George, It sounds as if you’re making a good decision. I am not an MD; however, I’m sure that the parallels will be evident. Good luck in your new endeavor,
Horace T Bone, PhD
Horace,
Thanks for your encouragement and support! Yes, I agree, the parallels between a profitable holistic medical practice and any other type of service-based business are numerous. For instance, I co-created an online app, ProfitStash, that predicts a business’ cash flow months in advance and helps set proper business goals (financial, sales and marketing goals that are interlinked). And I’ve co-authored a book that is being used in a couple of business schools: Financial Statements Made Practice: A Visual Step-by-Step Guide. My point is that business financial education is highly relevant whether you’re a holistic physician or you are a financial advisor such as yourself.
All the best, George. I am an allopath – family physician – and I am deeply interested in holistic medicine. I would prefer to help patients online. Looking forward to the next step.
Hi Rohi,
Glad to hear from a fellow physician. Even better to hear of your interest in holistic medicine. To me, this is an important movement to help move forward. The opportunities to contribute to this movement are limitless.
You can certainly work with patients holistically online, by the way!
If you haven’t seen it already, I think you’ll enjoy reading the Healthy Holistic Medical Practice Manifesto on the bottom of this page: https://freedompreneurmd.com/about/
Cheers,
George
I am a practicing Acupuncture Physician. I have been practicing for 23 years and come from a
Critical Care Nurse background, working in the open heart ICU for adult and pediatric patients.
I am interested in what you have to say. Thank you
Hi Debra!
Thank you for affirming your interest in what I have to say; there’s a lot more yet to come. I’ve been energized and inspired to receive comments such as yours.
I really meant what I mentioned in the video: Now that I’m crystal clear about my audience and mission to catalyze the transformation of healthcare to the best of my abilities, I’m gearing up to consistently produce educational content in a variety of different ways.
Thanks again for your support of the holistic health movement!
George
Hi George,
Glad to hear that you’ve found a new focus for your business that excites you.
Just curious: Since you’re making the holistic healthcare market your focus, why are you making “M.D.” (medical doctor) a part of your branding? It doesn’t seem that this would really resonate with holistic health practitioners.
My two cents. (My late wife was a holistic health practitioner.)
Sam Wieder
Hi Sam,
You have a very valid point, one that I wrestled with for a while…
Initially, I thought my branding ought to specifically mention “holistic health practitioners.” But my initial testing and feedback told me that this description was too broad and non-specific.
So I experimented with narrowing down my focus to holistic physicians, rather than holistic practitioners. Since I’m an M.D. and I know the medical practice challenges and I did integrate holistic practices during my plastic surgery career, I tested the Freedompreneur M.D. branding and messaging. The early response, both online and offline, has been highly encouraging.
All indicators, tangible and intangible, tell me I’m on the right track. I’m getting more encouraging responses and comments by email and blog than I can remember getting at any time during the past several years! And, I’m getting more inquiries from people interested in exploring how I can help them build more profitable, sustainable, and rewarding businesses than I have in a long time.
That said, I’ve heard from a number of holistic health practitioners (and even non-healthcare professionals) that they resonate with my direction and message, again both online and offline.
The take-home marketing and branding lesson is to focus on a specialized niche and put out educational, engaging content for that audience. Along the way, there will be others who aren’t part of that niche will still be attracted to the message.
Sometimes, that’s a lot easier said than done; it requires a lot of testing and refinement after taking the feedback from the marketplace.
As an example, I frequently listen to the videos from a friend and colleague, David H. Lawrence, XVII, whose audience is voiceover artists who want to narrate audiobooks. Now, I have no interest in becoming a voiceover artist, yet I find his content relevant, educational, and entertaining. You can check him out at https://www.vo2gogo.com. By the way, I’ve already recorded two sessions with him for the upcoming release of the Freedompreneur M.D. podcast.
Thanks for the comment; this may turn into a great marketing blog post on the power of niching!
Congratulations George!!!
I love your mission statement. VERY inspiring, and totally you, inside and out.
It all makes perfect sense and is a sign of your (and your businesses) natural evolution and refinement. It’s the next iteration and narrowing of focus along your “True North Journey” and is full of great possibility for contribution, self-expression, and success.
“Godspeed” Faire Prince!
Patrick,
Yes, this is most certainly the next path on my “True North Journey!”
Thanks for your encouragement, my good friend!
George
