Searching For What Really Matters

Leadership, responsibility, commitment to hard work, service to others…

…those are the quintessential values embodied by Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the USAir pilot who safely landed his crippled jet with 155 passengers and crew members in the Hudson River on January 15, 2009.

In his book, Highest Duty, Sully recounts how his entire lifetime of experiences as a son, brother, Air Force fighter pilot, husband, father, friend, neighbor, and colleague prepared him to make the right decisions at the right time under conditions of extreme duress.

A humble man, the message from Captain Sullenberger is clear: You never know when you’ll be tested. Play the cards you’ve been dealt.. And, do your very best at all times, to the best of your abilities and faculties in that moment, even when the only person watching is you.

Captain Sullenberger has clearly led his life based on solid core values.

In our Conscious Leaderpreneurship Conversation on Thursday, October 29, 2009, we explored how this applies to where your business is today…

…and where you intend it to be, say six months from now.
